REFSQ2011 Best Paper Selection

We, the REFSQ Program Committee Co-Chairs, are pleased to annouce that the Best Paper of REFSQ 2011 is:

  • Use Cases versus Task Description, Soren Lauesen and Mohammad Kuhail

There were three runnners up to the Best Paper (listed in alphabetical order according to the family names of the first authors):

  • Supporting Requirements Engineers in Recognising Security Issues, Eric Knauss, Siv Houmb, Kurt Schneider, Shareeful Islam, Jan Juerjens
  • Applying Restricted English Grammar on Automotive Requirements — Does It Work? A Case Study, Amalinda Post, Igor Menzel, Andreas Podelski
  • Requirements Engineering for Embedded Systems: An Investigation of Industry Needs, Ernst Sikora, Bastian Tenbergen, Klaus Pohl

REFSQ’11 Conference will take place at Atlantic Congress Hotel Messe Essen. The REFSQ’11 Workshops on Thursday, 31st March will take place at paluno – The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology, University of Duisburg-Essen. See Directions & Addresses for more details.

This statement may come as a surprise to many when, in fact, there are an increasing number of students in various doctoral programs including Requirements Engineering. Ridiculous as it may sound, let us stop and question whether one should ever bother to write a doctoral thesis. Don‘t miss this event and a unique opportunity for a lively dicsussion!
