Best paper award selection:

The Best Paper Award Committee is very happy to announce that the following paper is selected among the nominees:
Eltjo Poort, Nick Martens, Inge Van De Weerd and Hans Van Vliet. ”How Architects See Non-Functional Requirements: Beware of Modifiability”
The paper provides empirically grounded knowledge on quality requirements and their impact on software project success through well-designed research with real-world stakeholders on multi-disciplinary research questions that connect requirements engineering with architecture and verification.

The REFSQ 2012 proceedings are published by Springer in the volume 7195 of Lecture Notes on Computer Science.

Five Reasons for REFSQ:

1. A highly interactive working-conference format. All presentations have prepared discussants and at least as much time for discussions as for presentations. REFSQ’s unique events, such as the empirical research fair, stimulate collaboration across academic and industrial communities.
2. A forum for high-quality emerging research not yet of journal quality, but paving the way for future directions in requirements engineering.
3. An international event with archived proceedings. REFSQ is always situated in Europe close to an international travelling hub enablingPhD students and others with a tight budget toaffordably travel every year to a well-reputed research conference. REFSQ collaborates with Springer for proceedings publication.
4. An inclusive network for PhD students and newcomers to the requirements engineering community. REFSQ encourages submission of PhD student work and has specific events for PhD students and newcomers.
5. A vital interchange between industry and academia. With a foundation in the European software industry, REFSQ engages practitioners in Europe and internationally in their continuous competence development. REFSQ is particularly interesting for industry specialists and early adopters.
