Paluno

Paluno: The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology provides the research experience and the competencies needed to address the challenges faced in the future converged Internet.

Paluno is located at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, being one of the ten largest universities of Germany with about 30,000 enrolled students and 3,400 academic and non-academic staff.

Seven professors and about 70 academic staff members join forces in the research institute. Consequently, its professional competence covers several areas of software and service engineering, including software & service architectures, mobile & ubiquitous software systems, pervasive computing, quality assurance, requirements engineering, software product line engineering, variability management, security & trust, and software development methods & tools.
Paluno has experience in several application domains, most notably automotive, avionics, energy, insurance and logistics.
Paluno is involved in several European and national projects, including the FP7 NoE S-Cube (which is coordinated by Paluno), the FP7 NoE NESSOS, the FP7 IP NEXOF-RA, the FP7 IP FI-WARE, the FP7 IP FInest (where paluno is technical coordinator) and the German Innovation Alliance SPES (on model-based development of software-intensive systems).
In addition, Paluno has close collaborations with European and national companies including Allianz, Airbus, Bosch, Daimler, Deutsche Telekom, EADS, Engineering, Hannover Rück, HP, IBM, Philips, RWE, SAP, Siemens, and Thales.
The University of Duisburg-Essen is a member of the Networked European Software & Services Initiative (NESSI) since 2009.
