Lindholmen Conference Center

The REFSQ 2016 main conference and the workshops will be hosted at the Lindholmen Conference Center in Gothenburg, an excellent conference center operated by Chalmers. The conference center is located in the Lindholmen Science Park, at the beautiful riverside of Göta Älv and facing downtown of Gothenburg, which can be easily reached by harbour ferry and other public transportation.

WiFi is accessible using Network: Chsrab-C and password: ChalmersKonferens

Transport to/from the conference center

Ferries with the green flag are commuter ferries between the science park and Stenpiren, near the center. These ferries are also free.

Ferries with the orange flags target the entire harbour area and require a ticket. Also, they continue to the west of Gothenburg (away from the center).

The City of Gothenburg

With almost 600,000 urban residents, Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city and the fifth largest city in Scandinavia.

Interesting facts:

  • Well-known brands, such as Volvo, Hasselblad, SKF and Nudie, originated and are still based here.
  • Liseberg, Scandinavia’s largest amusement park, features Europe’s tallest free fall called AtmosFear – you drop 146 meters (480 feet) going 110 km/hour (68 miles/hour) for three seconds.
  • Slottsskogen has been a public park for almost 140 years. The park features a zoo including the endangered Humboldt penguins and a children’s zoo, an observatory and the Gothenburg Natural History Museum.
  • The ocean and archipelago is only 20 minutes away from the downtown area by tram.

Travel Information

Gothenburg's Landvetter Airport (GOT) is easily accessible from around the world, with scheduled direct flights from around 50 European destinations. Direct flights exist from typical European hubs, such as Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), London Heathrow (LHR), or Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS).

From the airport, regular buses connect you with the city (http://flygbussarna.se/en/landvetter). The airport buses stop at four locations in the city: Korsvägen, Park Lane, Kungsportsplatsen, and the central station/bus terminal.

It’s also easy to get around within the city. Discover the city on foot, rent a bike, or use the extensive tram and ferry network that will take you all the way out into the archipelago.
